How to auto-publish Instagram Stories

Most schedulers only send you a reminder to post a Story manually. Here is how real Story auto-publishing works and which tools actually do it.

The short answer

Stories can be published automatically through Instagram's API, and many schedulers do support it. But some only send a push notification reminding you to post by hand, and still describe that as 'scheduling' — and others put Stories behind a paid tier. Check for the words 'reminder' or 'notification', and check which plan it needs, before you buy.

Step by step

  1. 1Check what your tool actually does

This is the whole decision. If the tool's documentation says it will 'remind you to post', a human still has to open the app at that moment. If it says the Story publishes automatically, it is using the Stories publishing endpoint.

  2. 2Use a professional account

As with Reels, Story publishing through the API requires a Business or Creator account.

  3. 3Upload a photo or a video

Stories accept both. Vertical 9:16 is the native frame. Stories carry no caption — text has to be part of the image or video itself, so burn it in before uploading.

  4. 4Schedule it and walk away

snazzy creates a real Story container and publishes it on time. No notification, no phone, nothing to tap.
